Poetry and Inspirations

Poetry has been a big part of my life ever since I learned about it. I'm not really that good at it but I like to think that I'm pretty decent at it. Poetry is one of those things for me that I don't do very often, but when I do I like to sit down and have no distractions. I can only write poetry when I get inspired by some random thing, where half the time I have no idea where it comes from. I will share a couple of my poems and some brief descriptions of where they came from.

You don't know how much you would truly miss something until it is actually gone.
Scruffy, the best dog in the whole world, taught me this.
Over 8 months ago this dog left his body for this world to be in a better place.
He was still a young pup at the age of 2 and a half years young.
On the 20th of every month, this dog comes back to communicate with me.
He has many ways of doing this, but definitely makes his presence know to me every time.
Some may think that I sound crazy for thinking a dead dog communicates with me,
But to me this is completely normal as it happens every single month for the past 8.
Honestly you can think whatever you want, but to me this dog will always exist on this world.
He left his body to be in a better place but still left his soul and presence here.
He will always be missed, as he left a presence in everybody that had ever met him.
This includes the Schwann man that came once every 2 weeks, who would even give him a treat every time,
The Hinkley Springs water delivery guy that came about once a month,
The Orkin bug prevention man who came about the same as the latter,
The people of the vets office that would take care of him whenever we left town,
The friends of the family he had known to love and despite the barking loved all those friends too,
And most of all to the family he was raised by.
Nothing will ever be able to replace this dog in the hearts of many, despite what they think will get rid of him.
Most of all, I will miss you to my grave Scruffy.
Rest in peace and please if you somehow can read this, please keep visiting me as I look forward to that day every month.

This poem is my most recent and is about my dog that passed away about 8 and a half months ago now. He comes back to me and I did this poem one of these days that he came back to me.

I gaze into your eye
And can't help but to smile.
These are moments of happiness
But they only last for a while.
I spend all the lonely moments in my life
Hoping and wishing to be with you.
I would give up anything of mine
To just be with you for a second or two.
But as I come back to reality
Just staring at the moon.
All I can do for now and ever
Is just dream we will be together soon.

This one is also about my dog, Scruffy. I wrote this one just a couple days after he died. I feel this is one of my better ones because it happened at one of the most emotional times in my life.

I hope you enjoyed reading this and please if you have feedback, don't hesitate to comment and tell me. Good or bad doesn't matter to me.

  2. Awe! That's so awesome that you are interested in poetry. I like to write poems too, but like you said it usually only happens when something inspires you. You're dog sounds like he was a good one. I'm sorry for your loss. I don't know what i'd do without my dog. It's bad enough being away at college without him. Keep writing! You're very good!
